2009 Silver Proof Sets
The 2009 silver proof sets are now available from the U.S. Mint. This coin collecting set went on sale in July of this year and the sales are booming. This year’s silver proof sets has additional coins but with that a higher price of $52.95.
Included in this year 2009 silver proof sets are the following proofs of circulated coins. Each of these coins was minted at the San Francisco mint and bears the S marking.
There are 4 presidential $1 coins bearing the likeness of William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James K. Polk and Zachary Taylor. All four of these beautiful coins are encased in a clear plastic enclosure to help prevent damage.
Also included are the next six that are in line to be released quarters that honor the states, districts and territories of the United States. These coins are minted from coin silver or 90% silver. This year’s additions honor the District of Columbia, and the territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, America Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Made of the same coin silver this year are the Roosevelt dime and the Kennedy half-dollar.
To honor the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth are 4 one cent coins. These special coins are stuck from the same percentage of metals that the original Lincoln penny was made from back in 1909. The alloy is 95% cooper, 3% zinc and 2% tin.
The last coin in this year’s 2009 silver proof sets is the Jefferson Nickel.
All of the coins in this collection are polished to a mirror finish with a frosted foreground to give each coin a cameo effect.
