2009 Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar
The 2009 Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar goes on sale on February 12, 2009 according to the United States Mint 2009 Product Availability Schedule. February 12 marks the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. In honor of Abraham Lincoln, the Congress ordered the Mint to produce the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar.
This US commemorative coin is composed of 90 percent silver. It weighs 26.73 grams and is 1.5 inches in diameter. There will be a total of 500,000 Lincoln commemorative coins produced.
The obverse has a picture of Abraham Lincoln with the Motto In God We Trust and the Word Liberty. The reverse of the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar features a quote from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
It amazes me that Abraham Lincoln only served one term as President of the United States. He served from 1861 to 1865 when he was assinated by John Wilkes Boothe. Except for George Washington, no American President had a greater impact on the country than Lincoln. He lead our country to victory in the Civil War and ended slavery in America. George Washington is my favorite President. But, Lincoln has to be my second favorite.

I probably won’t be buying the commemorative dollar; it’s not an area that I have a lot of interest, personally. I know others do, but they’re just not for me; rather get the 2009 ASE.
